Primary purpose of the job :
Lead a team of Mechanical Technicians in carrying out, as directed, daily Mechanical Rotating Equipment Maintenance activities associated with the LNG Process Train, Offsite Facilities, Utilities and Off-Plot Facilities, including preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Reports to the Nominated Qatar gas Rotating Maintenance Supervisor.
- Carry out work as directed, monitors and maintains the health of the Mechanical Equipment associated within his assigned area of the plant with minimum or no supervision.
- Executes basic rotating equipment maintenance work in the field and Workshop.
- Ensures that materials and spare parts are available and in good condition before starting maintenance activity.
- Ability to overhaul the rotating equipment as per the Qatar gas procedures.
- Carries out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on rotating equipment.
- Understand balancing techniques & performs the dynamic balancing of the rotors assembly.
- Understand and performs rotating equipment alignment (dial & laser).
- Use of precisions measuring tools to take all the dimensions and clearances of the equipment.
- Identify all damaged spares from dismantled rotating equipment, e.g., pumps (centrifugal & reciprocating), motors, blowers & compressors (centrifugal, screw & reciprocating), etc.
- Identifies common failures, reports to Supervisor and provide suggestions for corrective action –during Preventive or Corrective maintenance.
- Provides accurate records and closeout reports of all completed work as per Company requirements, as requested and guided by Supervisor
- Understands technical drawings of Turbo machinery / rotating equipment.
- Capable of understanding cross-sectional drawings, procedures & other related documents related to the rotating equipment.
- Prepares technical report and fills up the checklist as deemed necessary.
- Quality Control Measures for all Maintenance-related activities using checklist.
- Ensure compliance at all times with the Qatar Gas Environmental Health and Safety Procedures, as well as occupational health and safety regulations.
- Educational Qualifications: Minimum Higher Secondary School Education (12 years) plus a three to five year technical diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years of maintenance experience with at least 5 years on field instrumentation in a diversified oil & gas processing, LNG or petrochemical plants.
- Computer Skills: Computer literate with Microsoft Office software.
- English Language Skills: Good written and oral communication skills in English. Trade Certificate / Specialized Trainings:
- Certificate from a specialist Bolting Company as a Torque machine operator
- Mechanical seal testing, Dynamic Balancing, Hydraulic Torqueing, Overhead crane & rigging. Job Specific Requirements:
- Sufficient experience & knowledge of turbo-machinery maintenance and troubleshooting of gas and steam turbines, compressors (centrifugal and reciprocating), pumps, mechanical seals, gear box, fans, etc. blowers.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of Pumps, Compressors, Blowers, Air Coolers, Boilers and other process plant equipment and Performs overhauling of Pumps, Compressor, Turbine, etc.
- Knowledgeable of Rotating Equipment including its Operations and Principles inclusive of Seals, Bearings, Vibrations and Lubrication.
- Hands on experience on mechanical seals overhauls and testing.
- Experience with Balancing of rotors, Bolt Torqueing and tensioning.
- Ability to work in a multinational environment.
- A strong focus on safety is paramount and practical knowledge of permit to work systems and lock out / tag out procedures applicable to LNG / Petrochemical plants is required.
- Familiar with and experienced in working with H2S rich processes, water handling equipment, desalination plant, waste systems and general utility services.
